Who we are

We are so lucky to call our fifth-generation homestead farm, nestled among the rolling hills, cherry orchards, and sparkling shores of Lake Michigan - our home.

Golden Hour Farm is named after our Golden Retriever, Captain; my grandparents’ beloved original golden, Molly; and the refreshing, wondrous feeling of evenings spent with the people you love under the golden light of late summer in Northern Michigan.

My family has a 150-ish-year history of homestead farming in the Good Harbor area. The deep love my grandparents shared—for this land, for living with the seasons, and for their family and each other—is a guiding force in building Golden Hour Farm.

I was born and raised in Metro Detroit, and after graduating from Michigan State University, I moved north. At MSU, I earned degrees in advertising and agribusiness, as well as in history education—always knowing I wanted a life that blended work on the land with work alongside young people. From September through June, I teach high school history locally and manage our K–12 school’s media and marketing. Outside of work, I love cooking, long walks with my pup, swimming, skiing, reading, traveling, cheering on MSU sports, visiting the Detroit area, and working on historical restoration projects with my family.

Chuck was born and raised on Old Mission Peninsula. After working in design in Vermont and Chicago, he returned to Northern Michigan, where he has spent the last 10 years helping run his family’s landscape irrigation business. Outside of work, he loves movies and pop culture art (especially “nerd” art), snowboarding, traveling, reading, and creative home improvement projects with our pup faithfully following by his side.

Together, we work hard to grow local flowers that bring the refreshing rhythm of the seasons to you. From special occasions to everyday moments at your kitchen table.

We also offer our Soggy Doggy Tiki Bar rental—one of Chuck’s creative projects originally built for our own wedding—for unforgettable gatherings that feel effortless and unique. Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, or backyard bash, we help bring the little moments to big life with golden hour magic.

At the heart of it all is our love for this land and our belief that small, beautiful moments can grow into lifelong memories.

We are Chuck, Em, and Captain - the Ellibee family and Golden Hour Farm.
